For about a generation now, Tennessee has been a reliably red state, basically since Al Gore lost his home-state in 2000. Democratic campaigns have not come through here much in recent years, and Republicans have dominated state and federal elections. Today though, both parties will come through the Volunteer State and cast their ballots for President.
Democrats:
Hillary Clinton is expected to win this state, and the only question is how big. For the most part, this Democratic electorate is more African-American, which favors her heavily. About the only question is if this victory is over 20%, over 30%, or something like her win in South Carolina. Senator Sanders really hasn't even contested this.
The votes are very clustered in this one. Memphis will be a big area of votes, as will most of the Mississippi River area, and Nashville. Those are the places to watch.
Republicans:
This is looking like Trump Country. If anyone else could compete here, it would be Cruz, but NBC has him down almost 20% right now. He would have to ride the Evangelical vote to a closer than expected finish.
Trump is likely to win a blowout though tonight. He'll win big up in the mountains, around Knoxville, and across the state. Don't expect this KKK dust-up to hurt him anywhere in TN.
