An Updated Delegate Count

As of noon today, the updated Democratic delegate count:

  • Elected Delegates- Hillary Clinton 1,132 Bernie Sanders 818
  • Superdelegates- Hillary Clinton 467 Bernie Sanders 26
  • Total Delegate Count- Hillary Clinton 1,599 Bernie Sanders 844
It takes 2,383 delegates to win the Democratic nomination, and 2,322 are still available. Given that Clinton leads the elected delegate count by 314, and that all Democratic contests are proportional, the superdelegates are not likely to flee her at this time. That means she needs 784 more to win, or 33.76% of the remaining delegates. With big states like New York, California, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey ahead, she is likely to get there.

The Republican count at this time:
  • Donald Trump 646
  • Ted Cruz 397
  • John Kasich 142
Marco Rubio has dropped out, but still has more delegates than Kasich. There are 1,103 remaining delegates, and you need 1,237 to win the nomination. Donald Trump needs 591 more delegates at this time, or 53.58% of the remaining delegates to win. It is questionable if he will get to the magic number before Cleveland.
