You Can Use the Past Against Anyone

Yesterday, the internet was abuzz after it came out that Notorious B.I.G.'s song "I Got A Story To Tell" was about former New York Knicks player Anthony Mason, at least according to Fat Joe. Both guys are dead, and most of the public had probably forgotten about this song, but here it was. Years later, the answer to what this song was about is known.

This past weekend, Russell Wilson spoke at the University of Wisconsin's commencement. The speech was well received at the university where he played his final season of college football. It wasn't well received by everyone though. Some folks from N.C. State, where Wilson played his first three years of college ball, were not happy. Apparently his transfer from the Wolf Pack is still a sore subject.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the past. Plenty of times as a young people, we do or say things that stick with other people for years. Unfortunately, these things never die. It takes just one person somewhere wanting to re-litigate the past, and people will want to do just that. Even when the people involved are on to new things, or in some cases even dead, we still end up right back at this.
