NL West Predictions

Last year the Dodgers won the NL West, again, and went nowhere in the playoffs, again. Then the off-season came, and they are a different team now moving forward. Greinke is gone to Arizona, and the D-Backs are an upgraded group. San Francisco is re-loaded, and will look to keep their "even years" streak going. Here's my picks:

  1. San Francisco Giants (93-69)- After going out and re-fortifying the rotation, I see a big year on the Bay. The Giants have a stacked pitching staff that will shut teams down, and star players like Buster Posey and Hunter Pence to provide the offense. Off-season pick-ups like Denard Span won't hurt either.
  2. Arizona Diamondbacks (87-75)- The Greinke signing speeds up the timeline for this team being good. Jean Segura, Tyler Clippard, and Shelby Miller won't hurt either. Expect the Diamondbacks to break out and seriously contend for most of the season.
  3. Los Angeles Dodgers (84-78)- It was a tough off-season for the Dodgers. They lost one of their ace arms and didn't add any of the stars that we're used to them picking up. They could still be better than what I'm predicting, and end up as a playoff team. I could also see them having a down year in 2016.
  4. Colorado Rockies (70-92)- Unfortunately for the Rockies, they will probably end up furthering the rebuild that began with trading away Troy Tulowitzki. With that said, it could be a long year in Denver.
  5. San Diego Padres (65-97)- Last year at this time, the Padres were a trendy pick to contend. This year, no one is making that mistake twice.
