Reality vs. What Everyone Thinks. It is always the battle in politics. People think their tax dollars mostly go towards "welfare" and other things that don't benefit them, which is not reality. People think Iran and ISIS are similar or friends, and they hate each other. People think China owns most of our government debt, and actually they don't. People believe lots of false things, I get it. You kind of hope though that the media will someday actually report news and stop this trend. You hope.
Unfortunately, that doesn't happen, and if you need any proof of that, we have Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is in a tight Democratic race, possibly in legal trouble over her e-mails, and has shallow, shaky support amongst her own base, if you listen to the press. They cover her as a deeply flawed individual, one who is in serious trouble as a candidate. Reality says otherwise.
Yes, she lost Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. She might even lose Wisconsin. Even if she does, Hillary Clinton has a substantial delegate lead on the way to Philadelphia for this Summer's convention. Hillary is on her way to the nomination unless she completely implodes. I'm not talking about losing some states. I'm talking about getting demolished everywhere. There's no evidence of that, or frankly a chance of it. The coverage of this race should be stating the obvious- she's going to be the nominee. That is boring though, and doesn't sell the narrative of a dramatic campaign. Hence, we get the coverage of a "tight race."
Then there is this ridiculous email story. Let's be clear here, it's perfectly legal for the Secretary of State to have a private email that she uses, even for public business. Let's also be clear here, the "classified" information of today was not classified then, it was retroactively changed. Secretaries Rice and Powell both had private emails, and probably also had information that was retroactively deemed classified. It has been made clear that Hillary Clinton's server is under a review, but that is a far cry from her facing a criminal probe. In the end, any rational, sane person knows that she will not be charged. The burden of proof is very high, this is not David Petraeus leaving classified files on a table where his reporter-mistress can see them. If you think the FBI or the Department of Justice are going to bring a case against a nominee Clinton that is this flimsy, you are insane. There really isn't much to see here, no matter how many different times Fox News and Republican websites claim "an indictment is imminent."
Finally, there is this idea that Hillary Clinton is weak for the Fall election. She crushes Donald Trump in polling, time and time again. She crushes Ted Cruz most of the time. Yes, she sometimes has issues with John Kasich, but that's frankly because right now he has no chance to actually be nominated. Hillary Clinton will start the general election well-positioned to be elected the 45th President of the United States.
It gets annoying to watch the negative coverage of Secretary Clinton. Here we have this smart, historic candidate for President, and we cover her like some hated criminal. The media should be ashamed. I know I am for them.
