Some 2016 Predictions

Some predictions...

  • Hillary Clinton will be elected President of the United States, the first woman to do so.
  • The Syrian Civil War will remain unresolved at the end of this year.
  • The Arizona Cardinals will defeat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
  • Maikel Franco will represent the Philadelphia Phillies at the 2016 All-Star Game.
  • The Cleveland Cavaliers will win the NBA Championship, cementing LeBron James legacy as one of the greatest ever.
  • The Democrats will take back the United States Senate with 51 seats.
  • The U.S. economy will see a very similar year to 2015, with modest growth coming this year.
  • The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers will stage an epic AL West race, with the Astros coming out on top. The Red Sox will edge the Yankees out in a very close AL East race. The Kansas City Royals will cruise to the AL Central title. The AL Wild Cards will go to Texas and the Yankees. Texas will beat out the Yankees, Astros, and Royals on their way to the AL title.
  • Steph Curry will win the NBA's regular season MVP again, and get badly out-played by LeBron in the finals again.
  • Bill Cosby will be found not guilty. Ultimately, the movement to expose him will end up backfiring. I do think he's guilty of some or all of the crimes, I just don't think a good case will be made.
  • Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski will not be as lucky as Cosby. I'm not sure if he'll be indicted and convicted, or enter into a deal, but I don't think he makes it through the year.
  • China's economy will continue to cool, but not fall into the chaos some thought a few months ago.
  • The Phillies will go 74-88, but finish strong. The 2016 Eagles will go 5-11 in a rebuilding year. The Sixers will win 11 games this year, and draft #1 in June. The Flyers will miss the playoffs narrowly.
  • Usain Bolt will win his third 100 meter Olympic Gold Medal and take his seat as the greatest sprinter of his generation.
  • The Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup.
  • Ted Cruz wins the GOP Nomination for President. Hey, if I have to guess, he makes as much sense as anyone.
  • The Red Hot Chili Peppers return to the music scene will be very awesome, and sell well.
  • The New York Mets (NL East), Chicago Cubs (NL Central), San Francisco Giants (NL West), Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals (Wild Cards) make the NL Playoffs. The Pirates take out the Nats in the Wild Card game, then lose to the Giants, while the Mets take out the Cubs, again. The Giants beat the Mets in the NLCS.
  • The Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants in the World Series behind MVP Cole Hamels.
