We live in an era where music isn't about anything anymore. Very few artists actually talk about anything significant to the world we live in, or who we are. Most songs are about having a good time, and partying. Not many try anything new and different, and almost no one challenges the norms.
On this day, 35 years ago, John Lennon was shot and killed outside of the Dakota along New York City's Central Park, his place of residence. He had spent his musical career making history and breaking barriers. He was a revolutionary with his message, while preaching the timeless value of loving our fellow man. Hated by Nixon, loved by millions, and killed by a lone lunatic, he lived a life of consequence and change. He started a musical revolution, took part in a social one, and changed culture in America, Britain, and globally. He's missed today, in an era where most artists, and our society, should try to emulate his message and work.
