On Sunday I took a ride up to Spring Valley, a village in Rockland County, NY (just outside the city). I was going up there to see a dear friend and ex-client, David Fried, be sworn in as Judge for Spring Valley. I enjoy the ride up there anyway, it's a beautiful ride, but I didn't want to miss this. I had worked with David's campaign a few years ago for county executive, and was quite happy for him that he was landing back in the job he wanted, and belongs in. Sometimes you just know the right person is in the right place. This is one of those times.
This is a very rare thing in politics these days. Few, if any, people really seem to be able find the right spot for them to do good work for the public. In this instance, a friend of mine did. Too many times, people in political life end up continually chasing the next thing. It makes sense, in the sense that they feel they can do more. Occasionally though, we find the right spot. He found his.
