You know it's bad when you're eliminating the people enforcing ethics:
Ok, so you will want some further context on this. Here you go:MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The state Senate has passed a bill that would dissolve the state elections board. The GOP measure would dismantle the Government Accountability Board, which oversees elections and enforces ethics law. The agency is led by six nonpartisan judges.Republicans are upset with the board’s role in an investigation into whether Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign illegally coordinated with outside groups. The state Supreme Court halted the probe this summer; Republicans say the investigation was a political witch-hunt.The Senate approved the measure 18-14 early Saturday morning, capping a brutal all-night debate.
Walker recently signed into law a bill that does away with secret John Doe investigations into political misconduct.
Walker himself was subject to multiple John Doe investigations. The first John Doe investigation led to convictions of six of Gov. Walker’s associates, aides and appointees with charges including theft from a veteran’s charity.
During the second investigation, Gov. Walker and other Republicans were investigated for possible illegal coordination with third party groups. That type of coordination is now legal due to a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling which shut that case down, according to WKOW.
The Republican-controlled Legislature passed the bill doing away with John Does for any kind of political misconduct, including bribes, theft and campaign finance violations.
John Does are like a grand jury, but are done before a judge. Witnesses are under gag orders, and prosecutors can compel people to testify.Scott Walker is an intellectual midget, but he does get that he doesn't want to be investigated if he's doing crooked things. This failed governor now is doing away with the public's safety-net against corruption. I wish I could say i'm shocked.
