Alice Beck Dubow Deserves Lehigh Valley Votes

Alice Beck Dubow at Moravian on Sunday
Emil Giordano is a Northampton County Judge and graduate of Moravian. He's a decent man and actually one of the non-crazy Republicans out there. As a Court of Common Pleas Judge, he is perfectly adequate and competent at his job. I can say many decent things about him- but I'm not voting for him. The Superior Court is a much more ideological court than the Court of Common Pleas, it's a court where partisan views actually begin to matter. On matters of family legal issues, criminal legal issues, issues pertaining to children, labor, the environment, and consumer issues, there are clear differences between the two parties. I don't allege that Emil Giordano is a bad man at all. I allege that there is a better option for Lehigh Valley Democrats.

I will be casting my vote for Judge Alice Beck Dubow. She is a judge on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and has been for eight years. In that eight years, she has shown herself to be a fine progressive judge. She has been there for those families who need the legal system to get their lives back on track. She has been a defender of our children. She supports the rights of workers, and will have their back when the employers try to deny them their justice. She supports women, and their rights to equality in the work place, with their doctors, and in their homes. She will stand up for LGBT families in some of the key matters beyond marriage equality in which they are still discriminated against. On issue after issue, Judge Alice Beck Dubow will stand up for the mainstream Democratic positions that our voters believe in. She will be a voice of integrity on the bench. She will be a voice we can be proud of.

I'm disappointed that some of our Democratic leaders in the Lehigh Valley were not loyal to her or the party, and chose to endorse someone whom they must disagree with on some of the key issues that will face the Superior Court. I understand friendships, and I understand that some people don't want to anger judges in their own county, but party labels are supposed to suggest a set of beliefs in a person at their core. Judge Giordano is a good man, but if you are a Democratic legislator or local official, we are supposed to believe you agree more with the progressive judge, Alice Beck Dubow. I will be casting my vote for her tomorrow morning.
